Yep, it's that time of year already! I can't hardly believe that it is August and school is starting soon....just when I was getting into the "summer groove," BAM!!, it all snuck on me...band camp, registration, school shopping....wasn't it just June last week??!! lol
Anyway, that is what I have been up to since Monday...helping out at band camp, interacting with an amazing group of teens, and catching up on what they have been doing since school let out in August. I don't know what happens to these kids once they leave school in the spring...it must be the "growth fairy" that visits them, because they all seem to grow about an inch or two taller and seem more mature than when I last saw them. You gotta love teenagers!
The weather has been wicked hot and the sun just beats down on them in the afternoon, but they handle all the discomfort with alot of patience and discipline. This is the third band camp that I have been priviliged to be around, and, overall, they are a very talented group of kids. It is fun to hear the progress they are making on the song that they will be playing at competition and to see their attempts at getting their positions on the field correctly. I am inside most of the day, working in the file room, but I sneak out to watch them from time to time and when they play in the band room, we open the file room door so we can hear them. We love to watch the drumline and pit group do their thing!!
So, that is my wild and crazy life right now...I hope that all of you are having a good week and doing something fun!!! :)

I used to twirl flags in band and loved band camp! Long, long time ago, but fond memories!
ReplyDeleteI love watching the flag girls...they are so talented!!
ReplyDeleteWe've been way busy lately too! But not with school stuff. yet! I did miss a middle school meeting with a teacher on Tuesday. Totally forgot about it. I'll meet her over lunch today. School starts here 2 weeks from today. YEOWCH!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure band practice starts here soon too, then I won't see my 15 year old but rarely...
It is hard to believe that summer is over. And you are a great mom for always helping. Anna is leaving in 10 days. I wonder if I'll be a basket case. We will find out soon enough!
