There is no way possible for me to describe the devastation in Haiti....from the videos and pictures that are emerging, it looks like a scene from some kind of horror movie. Except, this is a real life situation and as I sit here, in my cozy little office chair, I feel helpless. It is just my nature to want to rush to their aid and do all that I can to make it better.
Unfortunately, I will not be jetting off to Haiti today nor will I be going there anytime soon. I can pray for them; I know that the Lord hears my prayers. I can also give financially, because money is the one thing that is needed NOW!
But, what charitable organizations are credible? Which ones will really be honest and use my $$ for the good of the Haitian people?
I found this link on msnbc.msn.com; it talks about ways to give using your cell phone. As of yesterday, mobile giving had exceeded 1 million dollars.
This link will take you to the list of charitable organizations that are active in the nation: msnbc.msn.com

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)...or, to put it in today's words..... "When good men do nothing, they get nothing good done."
Thank you for posting the links. Even in the position we are in at the moment, I'm going to scrape together a few dollars and donate them to one of the organizations on the list.
ReplyDeleteI thought the same thing; I am going to do the mobile donation. Most of the companies are not charging the standard texting fees, and for that, I applaud them!
ReplyDeleteThank you for doing what you can...I believe that if we all do a little something, that those "little somethings" will turn into "Big Somethings!" :)
You did a great job posting about this situation and I thank you. I also believe that people will respond to this nation in a big way. People that do not have money can donate clothing and I am sure they will. Thank you for coming by.
ReplyDeleteIt's so sad. I made myself stop reading/looking online about it b/c I was feeling so crushed. And I was feeling insignificant too- like what can I possibly do to help them? I'm just one person and they're hurting so bad right now. *so sad* It reminds me to be thankful for all the wonderful things I have and to count my blessings!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting this. It is so upsetting to see the pictures. My heart breaks when I see the pictures of the little kids.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good weekend.
Great post for such a worthy cause!
ReplyDeleteAlisa thanks for doing the research regarding donating to the Haiti tragedy.
ReplyDeleteAnd that quote is so spot on!!
Take care and much love
